Our website accessibility statement
This website accessibility statement explains how Blinds and Designs approaches the accessibility of this site, and what to do if something does not work for you. We want every visitor to be able to read about Hunter Douglas shades, blinds, shutters and drapery, find a showroom and request a consultation, whatever device or assistive technology they use.
We see this as ongoing work, not a box we ticked once. As pages are added and updated, we keep checking them.
What we aim for on every page

Words that describe each photo
Every photo carries a text description of what it actually shows, so a screen reader can describe it.

Clear headings and buttons
Pages are laid out with headings in order, and buttons say where they go, such as Request a Consultation.

Phones, tablets and computers
The site is built to work on any screen size, with text that can be enlarged.
What this covers and what it does not
This website accessibility statement covers the pages on this site. Some pages link to the Hunter Douglas website for its product catalogue; that site belongs to Hunter Douglas, and its accessibility is managed by Hunter Douglas. Forms and the review widget on our pages come from outside services, and we work with those services when a problem is found.
We do not claim that every page is perfect. If you find something that falls short, we would rather hear about it than have you give up on the site.

Plain words and a calm layout
We write in plain language, with short sections and no jargon where an everyday word will do. Product guides such as shades or blinds: how to choose explain terms rather than assume them. We aim to keep the layout calm, with nothing that flashes or plays sound, and to make the menu, the buttons and the forms work with a keyboard as well as a mouse or a touch screen.
How to tell us about a problem
- Note the page you were on and what you were trying to do.
- Tell us what got in the way: a button you could not reach, a photo without a description, text that was hard to read.
- Send it through the Request a Consultation form, use the call button, or tell us at the North Dartmouth showroom.
- We look into it and reply to you about what we found.
Request a Consultation
Visit a showroom or let us bring the showroom to you, with samples, an expert and a free estimate.

Other ways to shop with us
You never have to use this website to buy from us. Our vans carry samples, so we can bring the showroom to you for an in-home consultation, and we can talk you through any part of the process in person or by phone.
For windows that are hard to reach, ask about motorized blinds and shades. With PowerView you can raise and lower shades from a phone, a remote or a schedule, so a tall window or one behind a sofa is no harder to use than any other.
Questions about this website accessibility statement
Who do I contact about an accessibility problem?
Use the Request a Consultation form, the call button at the top of the page, or speak to us at the North Dartmouth showroom. Tell us the page and the problem.
Can I get information in another way?
Yes. We can go through products, samples and your free estimate in person at your home, or talk them through with you.
Does this statement cover the Hunter Douglas website?
No. Links to the Hunter Douglas catalogue go to a site Hunter Douglas runs, and its own accessibility statement applies there.
Do you update this page?
Yes. We review this website accessibility statement as the site changes.
Can motorized shades help with hard-to-reach windows?
They can. PowerView shades can be moved from a phone, a remote or a timer, which helps with tall or blocked windows. We can show you at a consultation.
