Our North Dartmouth showroom is the main home of Blinds & Designs, a family Hunter Douglas Gallery dealer. Come in to talk through shades, blinds, shutters and drapery for your house, look at samples up close, and leave with a clear idea of what will work in each room. If getting here is hard, we will happily bring the samples to you instead.

The houses we know best
Most of the houses we work on sit within a short drive of the North Dartmouth showroom, and they are a varied lot. That variety is why we ask about the house before we suggest a product.
Padanaram colonials and shingled capes
The older homes in Padanaram often have small divided panes, narrow casings and trim worth showing off. An inside-mounted shade keeps that woodwork in view. Slim plantation shutters fitted inside the frame suit these rooms too, and on a small cape window a flat Roman shade looks tidy without crowding the glass.

Ranches off Faunce Corner and Slocum Road
The ranches built here in the sixties and seventies usually have one big picture window in the living room and a slider to the back yard. A honeycomb shade across the picture window holds warmth in winter because the cells trap air. For the slider, a vertical honeycomb or a sheer that draws to the side keeps the door easy to use.
Farmhouses toward Russells Mills
Out toward Russells Mills, the old farm properties have deep-set nineteenth-century sash. That depth is a gift: there is room for a true inside mount, so a shade or shutter sits flush with the wall instead of hanging in front of the trim. Old frames are rarely square, so we measure each one separately.

Water-facing rooms in South Dartmouth
Rooms that look over Apponagansett Bay take hard afternoon glare off the water. Solar screen shades cut that brightness and keep the view, and the openness of the fabric decides how much you see through it. Sheer shades with soft vanes are another good answer when you want the light softened rather than blocked.
Light, privacy and darkness, room by room
Once we know the house, the next questions are about each room. A bedroom that faces east usually needs a room-darkening fabric, or a honeycomb shade with a darkening liner, so the sun does not wake you early in June. A front room close to the road needs privacy during the day without losing the light, which is where a top-down, bottom-up shade earns its keep: lower the top for daylight while the bottom stays closed.
Kitchens and bathrooms take steam and splashes, so we steer toward materials that cope with moisture, such as faux wood blinds or polysatin shutters. Family rooms with a television want glare control more than darkness. And a home office often does best with a light-filtering shade that you can set halfway and forget.
None of this needs settling before you come in. Tell us how you use each room and we will narrow the choices down with you.

How a project runs from the North Dartmouth showroom
- Talk it through. Visit during opening hours or book an in-home consultation, and tell us about the rooms, the light and the look you want.
- See the samples. We pull the Hunter Douglas fabrics and finishes that suit your windows, so you choose from a short list rather than the whole catalogue.
- Measure and estimate. We measure every window ourselves and give you a written estimate. Estimates are free.
- Install. Our certified Hunter Douglas installers fit everything and check each shade, blind or shutter runs smoothly before they go.

Why work with a Hunter Douglas Gallery dealer
Gallery dealer status means we work with the full Hunter Douglas range, from Duette honeycomb shades to Silhouette sheers and Palm Beach shutters. Our installers are certified by Hunter Douglas, so the product is fitted the way it was designed to be.
Beyond the sale, we offer interior design consultations when you want help with the whole room, motorization for new shades, and repairs on Hunter Douglas blinds and shades you already own. It all runs through one shop.
Towns we serve from here
The North Dartmouth showroom looks after the South Coast and the towns over the Rhode Island line, including Dartmouth, New Bedford, Fairhaven, Acushnet, Mattapoisett, Westport, Fall River, Tiverton, RI and Little Compton, RI. Wherever you are in that area, an in-home consultation brings the samples to your door.
