Canton shop-at-home window treatments from Blinds & Designs start at your front door, not at a store counter. We are a family Hunter Douglas Gallery dealer, and our vans carry samples and options so we can bring the showroom to you. You choose shades, blinds, shutters or drapery while standing at the windows they are meant for, in the light those rooms actually get.

How shop-at-home works

Shopping at home takes the guesswork out of colour and fabric. A sample that looks pale in a store can turn warm against your own walls, and the only way to know is to hold it up where it will hang.

  1. Request a consultation. Tell us which rooms you are thinking about and what times suit you.
  2. We come to you. We bring Hunter Douglas samples to your house and talk through each room: the light, the privacy and the look you are after.
  3. Measure and estimate. We measure every window ourselves and give you a written estimate. Estimates are free.
  4. Certified installation. Our Hunter Douglas certified installers come back to fit everything and check each piece works as it should.

Getting ready for a home appointment

There is very little to prepare. To get the most from Canton shop-at-home window treatments, think about which rooms bother you most and why: a bedroom that is too bright at dawn, a living room where the neighbours can see in, a home office with glare on the screen. If you have paint chips, fabric swatches or a rug you are planning around, keep them handy so we can hold samples against them. Clear a little space in front of the windows we will measure, and let us know about any repair or motorization questions too.

Victorians and colonials near Canton Center

The Victorians and colonials close to Canton Center have tall sash windows, and their height is part of what makes them handsome. Seeing samples in those rooms matters, because a fabric that looks right on a small swatch can feel heavy across a tall window.

For tall sash, plantation shutters with a divider rail let you open the top section for daylight and keep the lower half closed for privacy. Roman shades that fold up neatly above the glass keep the full height of the window on show when they are raised, and inside-mounted shades leave original trim in view. Old frames are rarely square, so we measure each window on its own.

Post-war capes and ranches through the middle of town

Through the middle of town, post-war capes and ranches bring a different set of windows: picture windows in the living room, smaller bedroom windows and, in the capes, dormer windows tucked under a sloping roof. Honeycomb shades are a common pick here, because the cells hold air and help these rooms keep their warmth. Cordless lift keeps a child’s room or a playroom tidy, and a top-down, bottom-up shade gives a street-facing living room privacy without shutting out the day.

Dormer windows deserve a mention. They sit deep in the roof, so a shade mounted inside the recess looks tidier than one hung on the wall. We will measure the depth and suggest what fits.

Larger houses on the Blue Hills side

On the Blue Hills side of town, larger newer houses sit on lots that run steeply up from the road, with long driveways climbing to the door. Those houses often have big windows, open-plan rooms and tall entry glass. Large panes like that suit roller and sheer shades in wide runs, and a high window over the stairs is an easy candidate for motorization, raised and lowered from a remote or the PowerView app.

A steep drive is one more reason shopping at home makes sense: you do not have to load anything into the car. We bring the samples up to you.
