Work from the windows we see every week

This window treatment portfolio is made of real installs: rooms Blinds and Designs measured, fitted and finished with Hunter Douglas shades, blinds and shutters. No staged catalogue sets, just windows like yours with the right covering on them.

The houses around our North Dartmouth showroom are a good test of any window. Padanaram’s older colonials and shingled capes have narrow sash and tight trim. The ranches off Faunce Corner and Slocum Road, built in the 1960s and 1970s, run to wide picture windows and sliders. Farm properties out toward Russells Mills have deep-set nineteenth-century sash that needs a careful inside mount. Water-facing rooms in South Dartmouth take hard afternoon glare off Apponagansett Bay. The photos here show how we answer each of those.

Shutters, shades and screens from our window treatment portfolio

White cafe-style plantation shutters on a dining room bay window, viewed past woven chairs and a round table

Cafe shutters in a dining bay

Shutters on the lower half of a bay give privacy at the table and keep the sky in view above.

White plantation shutters on three bedroom windows, including a high gable window, above a wood bed and nightstand

Shutters on a high gable

Every window in the room gets the same frame and louvre, the awkward gable included, so the wall reads as one.

White roller shades lowered on six tall windows in a two-storey living room with a chandelier and tiled fireplace

Roller shades on tall glass

Six matching roller shades tame a two-storey wall of windows without heavy fabric.

A natural woven shade lowered on the dining room window at the end of a long wood table under a pendant lamp

Woven shade at the table

A natural weave adds texture and softens light at the end of a long room.

Dark solar screen shades lowered around a screened porch with wicker seating and a wood ceiling

Solar screens on a porch

Dark screen fabric cuts glare on a porch while you can still see out.

White honeycomb shades on two side windows and a vertical honeycomb shade across a sliding door in a coral-walled living room

Honeycomb shades on a slider

A vertical honeycomb shade on the slider matches the side windows, so one look runs across the wall.

What to look for as you browse

Look past the furniture and at the windows. Notice where a shutter frame sits on the trim, how a shade lines up with its neighbours, and how much glass shows when a covering is raised. Those details decide whether a room looks finished, and they come from measuring every opening on its own rather than guessing from a standard size.

You will see plenty of white shutters in this window treatment portfolio, because they suit the colonials and capes so well. You will also see woven wood, roller shades, solar screens and honeycomb shades, each chosen for how the room is used: a bedroom that needs darkness, a porch that needs shade, a living room that needs light without glare.

Small windows count too

A powder room, a kitchen sink window or a stair landing gets the same care as the main living room. Cafe shutters on the lower half are a favourite for these spots: privacy where you need it, daylight above.

If you would like to see samples in person, the North Dartmouth showroom is the place to start, or browse the full Hunter Douglas range and our plantation shutters.

Window treatment portfolio questions

Are these photos of real homes?

Yes. Every photo in our window treatment portfolio shows a room we fitted. We never name the home or the street.

Can I get the same look in my house?

Very likely. Bring a photo you like to your consultation and we will show you the Hunter Douglas product behind it, in samples, at your own windows.

Do you work on older windows with deep sills?

Yes. Deep-set sash in older houses often suits an inside mount, and we measure each window on its own to get the fit right.

Is the estimate free?

Yes. We measure your windows and give you a free estimate, and you decide nothing until you have seen the options in your own rooms.

Can I see these products before I choose?

Yes. Our vans carry samples, so we can bring the showroom to you, or you can visit the North Dartmouth showroom.
