When you request a consultation with Blinds & Designs, you get time with people who know Hunter Douglas window treatments well and who will look at your actual rooms before suggesting anything. Use the form on this page to tell us a little about your project. We can meet you at home, where our vans bring the samples to your windows, or at one of our showrooms if you would rather come in.

What happens after you send the form

  1. We get in touch. Someone from our team contacts you to talk through the project and find a time that suits you.
  2. The consultation. At your home or a showroom, we go room by room: which way the windows face, how each room is used, and what is not working now.
  3. Samples in your light. We show you Hunter Douglas fabrics and finishes that suit each window, so you can compare them side by side.
  4. Measuring and a free estimate. When you have chosen, we measure every window ourselves and give you a written estimate at no charge.
  5. Installation. Our certified Hunter Douglas installers fit everything and make sure it all works before they leave.

At your home

Our vans carry samples and options, so we can bring the showroom to you. Seeing fabrics against your own walls and floors makes choosing easier.

At a showroom

Visit North Dartmouth, Franklin or Sagamore to see samples and talk it through in person.

What to tell us on the form

You do not need measurements or a plan. A short note is plenty: which rooms, roughly how many windows, and what you would like to fix. Too much sun on the television, a bedroom that will not go dark, a slider that needs privacy, or blinds that have simply worn out are all good places to start.

If you want help with more than the windows, say so. We offer interior design consultations for colour, fabric and the look of the whole room. If you are curious about motorized shades controlled from a remote or the PowerView app, or you have a Hunter Douglas blind or shade that needs a repair, mention that too and we will come prepared.

We read the house as well as the window

Around our main showroom, every house brings its own questions. The older colonials and shingled capes of Padanaram have small panes and narrow trim. Ranches from the sixties and seventies off Faunce Corner and Slocum Road usually have a wide picture window and a slider to the yard. Farm properties out toward Russells Mills keep deep-set nineteenth-century sash, and the rooms in South Dartmouth facing Apponagansett Bay take strong afternoon glare off the water.

Tell us what kind of house you have when you request a consultation, and we will bring samples that suit those windows.

Why people start with a consultation

Window treatments are made to measure, so getting the details right at the start saves trouble later. A consultation lets you compare light-filtering against room-darkening fabric, see how a shutter louvre looks in your room, and ask how the cords, wands or motors work before you commit. As a Hunter Douglas Gallery dealer we work with the full range, so the advice is about what suits your house rather than what happens to be on a shelf. That is why we suggest you request a consultation before you order anything, even if you think you already know what you want.

Consultation questions

Does the consultation cost anything?

The estimate is free. Ask about the consultation itself when we get in touch, and we will explain how it works for your project.

How long does a consultation take?

It depends on the number of rooms. A single room is a short visit, and a whole house takes longer. We will give you an idea when we book.

Do I need to know what I want?

No. Most people start with a problem, not a product, and we help you find the right answer.

Can I request a consultation for a business?

Yes. We supply commercial blinds and shades for offices, shops and other workplaces.

Can I bring my own measurements?

You are welcome to, but we always measure every window ourselves before ordering, so you do not have to.
